Penn State’s College of Engineering invites you to attend a workshop focusing on how to implement an Engineering Ambassador outreach program at your institution. The workshop aims to provide the foundational training necessary for both students and program directors. The workshop will be held during August 17-19, 2012 at the Nittany Lion Inn on Penn State’s beautiful main campus in central Pennsylvania. Recently featured at the White House during the Champion for Change event honoring leaders in the effort to recruit and retain girls and women in STEM fields, our Engineering Ambassador Program exists to change the conversation that middle and high school students, specifically those in underrepresented groups, are having about engineering careers. The Engineering Ambassador program also has the key goal of improving the confidence, communication skills, and leadership of the Ambassadors themselves. Our goal is to establish a national network of Engineering Ambassadors. Support for those institutions chosen to attend the workshop will include all workshop costs (including food) and some travel funds. For more details and to apply, please visit our website at www.engr.psu.edu/ambassadors/workshop. The deadline for applications is May 31st with notifications to be awarded by June 8. This workshop is sponsored by Penn State’s Electro-Optics Center and Penn State’s College of Engineering.
